Rose Parade Floats - 2009

Every year I think of rising early on New Years Day and going to the Rose Parade in Pasadena. I have always ended up watching it on TV, because I am not a morning person. Finally, in 2009, I went to see the floats the next day. These floats are majestic all-natural floral creations made entirely of flower petals, seeds, bark, leaves, fruit, grass and other natural materials. Roses and other delicate flowers are placed in individual vials of water that are then set into the float. All the floats are on a chassis that has to be able to be driven along a 5-mile parade route. Many of the floats feature computerised animation such as working roller coasters, robots with moving parts, working water slides etc.
